As y’all know, I’m expecting in oh say a little over six weeks. That would explain the absolute lack of posts here. That and I found face book.
Anyways, most of my baby shopping has been done online, and this is one of my favorite shops. The shipping is fast, and customer service is great. If you need a baby gift or something for your own check it out.
Recently, Laura Bush showed off her new china set. This is the letter that I sent to her regarding said purchase.
I wanted to voice my opinion on your new china set.
While it is lovely, I think it is in very bad taste to be exhibiting such an extravagance while there are people in our country in such need. I personally know many people who are not only in danger of losing their homes, but are struggling to feed their children.
I am aware that you purchased this with ‘private funds’ and that the purchase was made when times were better fiscally. However, that does not exclude you from the disastrous offense of showing off a purchase that costs more than the median house price in this country. The county you and your husband have sworn to care for, a country that is in economic shambles.
Shame on you and your lack of taste. May your successor make better social choices than you.
(I actually used my proper name, but didn’t want to post it here)
While, I don’t expect a response nor an apology for her poor behavior (or for this to be read at all by anyone of consequence other than you), I thought she deserved to be scolded.
I hate to think that I actually wrote this because I’m in a bad mood, because I have been puking all day. No, I’ve been puking for months and haven’t written a single nasty letter…… well there was that one to W……
Anyhow, I stand by my letter. I’m posting it here as I’ve not been knitting terribly much as of late and lest you think I’m dead, I figured I should post something that I’ve worked on.
Here’s another pair of booties. They match the blanket that I posted earlier. These booties will have a light green ribbon to tie them closed.
Morning sickness is rearing it’s ugly head and is keeping me moving much slower than I’m used to. That paired with the Achilles tendinitis that is keeping off of my feet and all I have to do is knit.
My most worked on project is a Pi shawl that I’m making for myself. Maybe I’ll get some pics of that today.
Thor took this picture of Apollo while they were waiting in the car for me. My boy is so handsome!
Picture from our Thanksgiving Bowl later….
Enjoy yourselves today!
I finished this small pi shawl a few weeks ago, and just got pictures taken of it. The yarn is handspun by me. The colorway is Rosebud from the Spunky Eclectic fiber club.
This is far too small to be a shawl, but it would make a great baby blanket. Especially for one born in say July. Such a baby would need a lightweight blanket to keep the chill off.
I really liked the pattern, it was easy and fun. It of coarse come again from EZ’s knitting almanac. I’m certain that I’ll make the pi shawl again. Next time big enough to be worn by me.
Oh and the reason I stopped short on this one was that I was working with size 2 needles. I just couldn’t bring myself to increase up again there would have been nearly 1,000 stitches on a row. I’ll surely use the suggested size 6 needles on the next go around.
I’ve nearly completed the Baby February Sweater out of EZ’s Knitting Almanac. If you are a knitter, and don’t have this book, go buy it. It’s the best eight bucks you’ll spend.
The sweater is made from Elsebeth Lavold’s Silky Wool. I’m in deep adoration of this yarn. One day, I’ll make something for myself out of it. But for now, baby garments are on my mind. I’ve got my heart set on acorn buttons for the sweater. I’ll need three about a half an inch or smaller, so if you see any please let me know.
The booties are in the same yarn and are halfway done. The free pattern is easy and cute and I’ve committed it to memory, so I can work on these cuties or more like them wherever I am.
Loki got glasses almost a week ago. I’m really surprised at what a difference it’s making for him. Not only has he been seeing things more clearly and sitting down while watching T.V. , but he seems to be talking a little clearer and isn’t as easily frustrated. If all of that wasn’t enough, he’s tragically cute in them.
Apollo’s First Day Of School
Apollo and Loki both started school last week. We’ve always homeschooled, but the boys were wanting a class setting a few days a week, and were really missing out on group play. So we shopped all of the Homeschool Public school programs and picked the one we liked the best. Apollo was hoping to ride the bus, and have a lunchbox so it isn’texactly what he was hoping for but it’s working out great. He’s made a friend and we’ve already planned a play date for next week.
Loki is taking one class and is doing pretty well. He had some tears in class today, so his teacher plopped him on her lap and he was fine. I sat in with him for part of the class to help him illustrate his ‘Hh Book’. His handwriting is really coming along and he’s enjoying playing in the gym for recess with all of the kids.
Loki’s First Day of School
We are having a very good time meeting people and getting used to our new routine. The boys can’t wait to leave for school and want to stay as long as we can while we’re there. Apollo has said that he’s glad that he only has class for a couple of hours a week. Apparently four hours is just enough. I’m enjoying watching the boys interact with the other kids. Apollo is a quiet boy who is happier in small group or one on one situations, and I’ve been so amazed to see him muster up the courage to ask kids questions or if he can join in their game. Today I got to see him joking around with another kid while they looked at a book on the bleachers. It just makes my heart so glad. Naturally, Loki can be found throwing a ball against the wall as hard as he can or playing in the midst of a swarm of girls. Always loved the ladies, he has.
I’ve met far too many people in the last week for me to remember all of their names, and it’s been really fun. There are babies all over the place and moms who are more than happy to tell me all about their families while I listen and knit. It’s been a very busy coupla weeks.
When I woke up this morning, I raced to put on the news just to make sure that things hadn’t been reversed. That there wasn’t any ballot snafus that would reverse the good done the night before. Thankfully, the results stand.
I’m so very happy.
Don’t forget! Naturally, I’d like everyone everywhere to vote for who I am……. but really just Vote.
We’ll be coloring in an electoral college map tonight while we watch the election results, and eat stouffer’s lasagne while having our fingers crossed.
Last presidential election night, I was in tears. Hopefully tonight, we’ll be celebrating.
It’s been way long since my last post. But I do promise, that I’m not dead.
Vacation, computer difficulties and a bathroom remodel have kept me silent. Hopefully, I’ll get a few pictures taken and will be able to share soon.
Saw this today and thought it was funny.
